Why was MastersDraft created?

We are very proud of our projections, but of course, they are simply one means to an end. We all use projections in some manner during our drafts, but often in different ways.

We believe the most efficient and effective approach on draft day is to automate the process, with changes reflected dynamically as each pick is recorded. This presents the drafter with the most complete information of players by position and money available at every step of the draft.

Of course, the goal is always to leave the draft with the best possible showing in all scoring categories. We want to maximize your chances of that occurring.

In basic terms, what does MastersDraft provide the user?

A list of all players, available and drafted, and their projected statistics are presented. MastersDraft edits and presents this information according to the designated league format. Keepers can be specified by the user and notes entered for each player. Drafting sequences for snake and straight drafts can be specified and adjusted as needed.

As the draft takes place, a picture of your progress in the ten ROTO categories is visible. This is not only for your team, but for your entire league.

Which projections are integrated into MastersDraft?

Both our standard and CVRC projections have been integrated into and fully tested with MastersDraft.

What happens when your projections are updated? Do I have to start over?

As we provide updated projections, you can easily import them into MastersDraft. Full instructions are included. Even if you have saved league drafts, when re-opened, the drafts will reflect the newer stats.

Does that mean I am married to using Mastersball’s projections?

No. We designed MastersDraft to be as flexible as possible. You can easily modify our projections or insert your own instead. The software will support any projections as long as the defined spreadsheet format is not altered.

How does MastersDraft handle inflation?

In the 2011 version, it didn’t. New for 2012, we have added an inflation calculator into MastersDraft, which is useful as a guide, especially in keeper leagues.

Our method of calculating inflation is a bit different than the standard approach, providing higher values at the high end of the player pool and lower values at the low end. While this will be discussed in detail in an upcoming paper, rest assured we can stand behind the outputs.

What if I am participating in a series of slow drafts that have overlapping schedules?

No problem. Mastersdraft handles it. The software supports up to six active drafts at once, though only one can be open at once. Just save your changes, close one draft and re-open another. It is that easy!

What hardware and software platforms are supported?

Our initial implementation covers just the standard 5x5 format for straight, snake and auction drafts on the Windows platform (XP, Vista and 7), but we hope to expand it in the future.

How do I receive support?

We provide direct email support ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and reply just as fast as possible, often within the same day. We’ll do our best to acknowledge all questions quickly, even if a full answer requires more time to investigate. We also monitor the subscriber forum for any questions posed there.

If MastersDraft is so good, why are you giving it away?

We considered making MastersDraft a separate, billable offering, but ultimately decided to increase the value we provide Platinum subscriptions by including it at no additional cost. Further, we kept our Platinum price flat for the third consecutive year in 2012.
