Each week, your friends at Mastersball will post the results of the weekly LABR FAAB run, featuring the winning bid as well a the runner-up bids. There are three LABR leagues, a 12-team AL only, 12-team NL only and 15-team Mixed League. You can see the complete standings for each league by clicking on the appropriate heading, located just under each player photo.

Included with each league report will be commentary from a Mastersball staff member participating in that league. We invite you to ask questions and post comments at the bottom of the report.

All contingency bids for awarded players are included. Sometimes, this bid is tied to a player that the owner received, so at times the bid amount is larger than the winning bid. We are including it to provide as much information and context as possible with each report.

 Perry Van Hook's Commentary

There were very few free agents bid on this week in LABR’s American League. The highest bid was $6 by Rotowire’s Chris Liss who did outbid four other teams for the services of Oakland MI Eric Sogard.

With Yoenis Cespedes on the DL I needed an outfielder from a very thin group and solved it by adding Hank Conger of the Angels for $3 so I could move Ryan Doumit from C to OF in Cespedes slot. I also replaced Shelley Duncan in my outfield slot with a one dollar claim of Endy Chavez.

 Lawr Michaels' Commentary

If it is true that you can never have enough pitching, the NL LABR owners pretty much bought into the notion as four of the seven transactions for last week were stabs at arms.

James Russell (in a bidding war to Nate Ravitz, for $6), Jon Garland ($2 to Brad Evans), Burke Badenhop ($1 to Bob Radomski), and Jeremy Hefner ($1 to Doug Dennis).

The problem is that it is difficult to get excited about any of these pickups.

On the hitter's side, Alfredo Marte was the sought after item ($4, also to Brad), and with Jason Kubel down he could see regular playing time, but I think $3 for Ramrio Pena to Mr. Radomski is the best acquisition of the week.

Although it was a very quiet week.

Todd Zola's Commentary

Figuring I had shortstop covered with Alex Gonzalez, I dropped Stephen Drew last week figuring I could get him back if necessary. Well, it was necessary but I opted for Chris Getz instead wanting to add a little more speed now so I can perhaps deal a speedster later.

Of course Drew was also a hot commodity and he went for less than I paid for Getz but I'm OK with the decision.

Ervin Santana has looked very good thus far and the multitude of bids shows many are looking to fortify their pitching. It will be interesting to see what Tony Cingrani goes for next week. I bet it's more than $8.

Amazing that Evan Gattis went for only $5 - would love to hear from those bidders and some who could use the power if not the position on why they didn't bid on him.
