Friday 22nd Sep 2017

Week 3 was an exceptionally high-scoring week as it took 301 points to bring down the $1.2M big prize and a score of 175 to cash most of the 50/50’s. I know about the 175 because I was sweating out the end of the Monday night game sitting at 175.6 with no players. I watched the standings as my teams fell to a smidgen above the cut line on most and just below on a few.

I expect the scoring to drop back to a little closer to normal in Week 4 as the high-scoring Patriots are on a bye (along with the Titans) and the Steelers play on Thursday without Ben Roethlisberger. Unless you play in contests that start on Thursday, we have the Dolphins, Jets and Ravens out of the player pool with the Ravens on Thursday and the Dolphins-Jets playing an early morning Sunday game from London.

Aaron Rodgers GB 7900 Pay up for the high-floor and the high-ceiling built in one
Andrew Luck Ind 7800 Still trying to get it sorted out.  Finish last week could be a start
Cam Newton Car 7000 Posting great numbers with no wide recievers.  Running ability helps
Matt Ryan Atl 6900 As long as Julio is healthy
Carson Palmer Ari 6800 Looks great posting top QB numbers at a discounted price
Andy Dalton Cin 5900 Eight TD passes in three games.  Top QB numbers at mid-range price but hard to trust
Tyrod Taylor Buf 5800 High TD total in limited throws. Rushing points are a bonus
Derek Carr Oak 5300 Cheap option coming off back-to-back 300+ yard passing games
Adrian Peterson Min 7800 Heavy workload has worked well for AP
Jamaal Charles KC 7600 Gets the touches no matter the score
Matt Forte Chi 7100 Bounce-back game against the Raiders
Latavius Murray Oak 6300 Solid 18-20 touches as the Raiders tend to stick with one gun
Mark Ingram NO 6000 16 receptions is a nice unexpected bonus.
Joseph Randle Dal 5500 16-19 touches still at a reasonable price
Carlos Hyde SF 5100 49'ers still trying to get him the ball
Frank Gore Ind 4700 Surprised to not see him involved in the Colts passing attack
Danny Woodhead SD 4600 Everyone has rushing success against the Browns
Matt Jones Was 4500 Expect low ownership after disappointing last Thursday night
Ryan Mathews Phi 3800 If Murray is out again
Lance Dunbar Dal 3600 Strong reception total for very cheap price
Karlos Williams Buf 3400 TD in three straight.  Would be in line for increased touches without McCoy
Theo Riddick Det 3000 Sneaky targets for another very cheap RB
Julio Jones Atl 9300 Ride him until you can't afford him.  Getting very expensive
Odell Beckham Jr. NYG 9100 Nice match-up against susceptible Bills secondary
A.J. Green Cin 7600 Big range in targets thru three games.  Bengals passing offense clicking
DeAndre Hopkins Hou 7300 Double digit targets in all three games.  Can't help but post numbers with those chances
Keenan Allen SD 7000 Was week two an anomoly with only four targets?  35 targets in other two games.
T.Y. Hilton Ind 6700 The big Colts offensive break-out game is coming
Jordan Matthews Phi 6600 Only Eagles wide receiver collecting catches
Larry Fitzgerald Ari 6500 Already has 23 receptions and five touchdowns.  Cardinals are rolling
Mike Evans TB 6400 From three targets in week two to 17 targets in week three.  The truth is in between
Amari Cooper Oak 6300 Getting the targets and still a bargain price
Allen Robinson Jax 5500 Another chance for garbage time points
Pierre Garcon Was 5300 Averaging nine targets per game and Eagles defense has shown holes
James Jones GB 5300 Gets a boost if Adams is out
Donte Moncrief Ind 5000 TD in three straight.  26 targets for bargain WR price
Michael Crabtree Oak 4600 The targets are there, but with a low conversion rate
Allen Hurns Jax 3900 Lower-priced GPP target
Jimmy Graham Sea 6000 Posts good numbers with eight targets, but can he get them every week
Greg Olsen Car 5400 Best receiving option that the Panthers have by far
Travis Kelce KC 5300 Last of the high-floor tight ends
Tyler Eifert Cin 4600 Had a TD reversed last week.  Little consolation if you had him
Martellus Bennett Chi 4500 Tight ends have been blowing up Oakland
Jordan Reed Was 4500 Nice low-cost option, but the in-game injury potential is always high
Jason Witten Dal 4400 Continues to produce good numbers at a cheap price
Kyle Rudolph Min 3200 TD potential makes him a possible low-end play
Seahawks Sea 3700 Getting it in gear
Cardinals Ari 3400 Hot start, plays another sub-par offense
Broncos Den 3300 Been a solid producer.
Panthers Car 3300 Bolstered their defense this week.  Nice match-up vs. mistake-prone QB

Proven stars are proven stars. Keep telling yourself this and trust in your research. On Monday, we saw Andrew Luck look like a rookie making his first career start. We know that Luck is going to post solid full-season numbers and he has to turn it around soon. How about this week?

Early season dependability is clearly coming from the wide receivers and not the running backs. Congratulations if you had DeAngelo Williams, Matt Jones or Dion Lewis in your DFS lineup last week. They were the top three scorers among running backs. Most of the top finishers in last week’s FantasyScore contests went cheap at running back and paid up for wide receivers.

Aaron Rodgers GNB 8800 Consistent lock for points, but at a hefty price.
Andrew Luck IND 8500 Still very expensive. Due for a breakout game.
Tom Brady NWE 8700 Been the best so far. Should be high scoring game against Jacksonville.
Ben Roethlisberger PIT 8400 Steelers rolled last week. Now get Bell back with Bryant still to come.
Russell Wilson SEA 7800 Seahawks should roll the Bears. Ground, air, defense, or some combo of each?
Matt Ryan ATL 7800 Losing Coleman will force Ryan to throw even more.
Carson Palmer ARI 8200 Salary moving into rarified air.
Ryan Fitzpatrick NYJ 5500 One of three excellent low-cost options at quarterback.
Blake Bortles JAC 4700 Patriots secondary is not good.
Brandon Weeden DAL 5000 Another low-cost option. Dallas has not shown much of a rushing game so far.
Marshawn Lynch SEA 7100 Looks to be the best back in the best spot - by far.
Danny Woodhead SDG 4600 Earns his points with solid reception numbers.
Devonta Freeman ATL 5100 Only game in town will also contribute through the air.
Adrian Peterson MIN 7900 Did everything but score last week.
Mark Ingram NOR 6800 Saints offense is in disarray, but not Ingram.
Giovani Bernard CIN 5300 Unlikely to see 20 carries in a game again, but will get touches through the air.
David Johnson ARI 5300 Pretty soon the Cardinals will realize the gem they have.
Todd Gurley STL 4200 Nice price and matchup if he makes his debut.
Dion Lewis NWE 5300 Continues to produce, but also fumble. Can't trust the coach.
Lance Dunbar DAL 2600 Cowboys figure to be in pass-mode most of the game.
Isaiah Crowell CLE 4700 Chance to run against the black-hole defense.
Damien Williams MIA 2000 Great option if Lamar Miller is out.
Antonio Brown PIT 8900 Most dependable numbers on the board.
Julio Jones ATL 8500 Looks unstoppable so far. When will the price become too high?
Randall Cobb GNB 7300 Looked better in game two. If you want to have a player still going on Monday.
Julian Edelman NWE 7500 22 catches in two games on 31 targets. Those numbers are tough to comprehend.
T.Y. Hilton IND 6900 Health is a question, but the Colts are due for a big breakout.
Mike Evans TAM 6500 Burned fantasy players last week with a donut. That will not happen again.
Emmanuel Sanders DEN 6700 Solid with lack of Denver run game.
Brandon Marshall NYJ 6300 In a good spot with the Jets.
Jarvis Landry MIA 5900 Dependable target/reception numbers.
Terrance Williams DAL 5700 Good in his first game as a number one receiver.
Amari Cooper OAK 5400 Big target numbers on a team that will have to pass due to their poor defense.
Vincent Jackson TAM 3900 Love the price.
Allen Robinson JAC 4900 Jacksonville will exploit bad NE secondary.
Donte Moncrief IND 3300 Expect high ownership percentage until his price adjusts.
Allen Hurns JAC 2000 See Allen Robinson.
Rishard Matthews MIA 2700 Moved up the depth chart to see regular rotation time.
Aaron Dobson NWE 2000 Can you trust the targets?
Rob Gronkowski NWE 7700 Best by far.
Greg Olsen CAR 6200 Very affordable. Expect same target number as game two.
Travis Kelce KAN 7100 Another good Monday option.
Tyler Eifert CIN 6800 Getting expensive, but has been producing.
Heath Miller PIT 4200 Heavily involved in Steelers offensive barage.
Eric Ebron DET 5000 Back-to-back games with a touchdown.
Kyle Rudolph MIN 4600 Dependable scoring option.
Gavin Escobar DAL 4100 Solid play if Witten is out.
Charles Clay BUF 2900 Plays against his former team.
Seattle Seahawks SEA 3300 All the signs point to a big blowout.
Houston Texans HOU 3200 Distant second choice against mistake-prone quarterback.
Carolina Panthers CAR 2500 Gets the Saints while they are a mess.
New York Jets NYJ 2400 Shut down the Colts on the road, now get the Eagles, who look bad with Bradford.
Denver Broncos DEN 2400 Been stout on defense so far.

My FantasyScore lineup (subject to change):

QB Andrew Luck $8,500
RB Danny Woodhead $4,600
RB Lance Dunbar $2,600
WR Antonio Brown $8,900
WR Emmanuel Sanders $6,700
WR Jarvis Landry $5,900

FL Donte Moncrief $3,300
DE Seattle Seahawks $3,300

Here are the best buys for Week 1.

Sam Bradford PHI 6600 Lowest price we will see Bradford in Eagles offense
Aaron Rodgers GNB 8800 Only risk is a big lead early leading to a grind-the-clock run game
Tony Romo DAL 7900 Historically high-scoring game against Giants.  Questionable running game
Matt Ryan ATL 7800 Expect a high-scoring Monday night game
Carson Palmer ARI 7100 Palmer was very good last season before ACL.  Saints defense has holes
Teddy Bridgewater MIN 6600 Efficiency leads to more touchdowns in 2015
Jameis Winston TAM 5000 Attractive price.  Rookie risk.
Eli Manning NYG 7400 A little less expensive than Romo
Eddie Lacy GNB 7900 Pay for the guaranteed touches, especially in cash games
Adrian Peterson MIN 7700 Should play with a purpose after missing most of last season
Jeremy Hill CIN 6800 Primary risk is lack of catches.  Should see plenty of carries.
Lamar Miller MIA 6500 Versatile runner/receiver in what should be high-scoring offense
Andre Ellington ARI 6000 Healthy to start the season.  Take advantage of it.
Doug Martin TAM 4100 Very cheap week one option.  Showed rookie form.
DeMarco Murray PHI 6800 Should have plenty of open space on Monday
Tevin Coleman ATL 3900 Limited in pre-season.  Should see bulk of Falcons carries
Duke Johnson CLE 3700 Played sparingly during pre-season due to injury.
Justin Forsett BAL 6700 I will buy the new offensive coordinator theory for week one
Julio Jones ATL 7900 I like the idea of pairing a stud wide receiver with a strong QB
Dez Bryant DAL 7600 High touchdown potential and guaranteed targets
Randall Cobb GNB 7100 Undisputable number one receiver in Green Bay
Amari Cooper OAK 5400 Number one receiver with up-and-coming quarterback.
Nelson Agholor PHI 4900 Low price for another strong rookie wide receiver
Jarvis Landry MIA 4700 Top target for Miami against poor Redskins defense
Davante Adams GNB 3600 Inexpensive option for week one
John Brown ARI 3300 Better tournament play than cash play
Marvin Jones CIN 2000 Very cheap option after missing entire 2014 season
Brandon Coleman NOR 2000 High-risk play.  Big target.  Expect Saints to be playing from behind
Eddie Royal CHI 2500 Will be highly-owned.  Low price.  Bears should be throwing often
Odell Beckham Jr. NYG 7900 Cowboys secondary is beatable
Calvin Johnson DET 7400 Not likely to be highly-owned in week one
Greg Olsen CAR 6100 Best option by a wide margin.  High price for a tight end
Delanie Walker TEN 4800 High-volume target with rookie quarterback
Austin Seferian-Jenkins TAM 3900 Should be a week one dump off target for first-time starting QB
Martellus Bennett CHI 5400 Bears might be short a receiver with Jeffery questionable
Tyler Eifert CIN 3400 Has the make-up to become a top tight end
Josh Hill NOR 3200 Someone needs to fill the Graham role.  Cheap week one option
Miami Dolphins 2300 Should dominate the Redskins and force several turnovers
St. Louis Rams 2800 Rams defense will be their strength in 2015
Tampa Bay Bucs 1900 At home against rookie QB
New York Jets 3000 Strong Jets defense against offensively-challenged Browns
Green Bay Packers 3100 Expect to play ahead against mistake-prone QB
Seattle Seahawks 3300 Rams might be without top-two running backs
Cincinnati Bengals 1700 Inexpensive option.  Not completely sold on Raiders offense

If we know anything from playing Fantasy Football forever is that you can’t panic after one week. Will Romo miss Dez? Absolutely. But he will still post good numbers with the other skill players in Dallas. Is Joe Flacco as bad as his numbers were against the Broncos? No way. Just watch him against the Raiders. Night and day.

Consider all the Saints in play against the lowly Bucs defense, especially Drew Brees and Mark Ingram. The Cowboys-Eagles game will be a shootout (highest Vegas total points of 54). Justin Forsett will bounce back and post RB1 numbers in Week 2. There is no shortage of tight ends likely to post good Week 2 numbers, and they are not all expensive like Gronk.

The Mastersball 50/50 at Fantasy Score is filling fast, so reserve your squad if you want to match wits with the Mastersball staff. Below are some players to have on your radar - be sure to check back on MastersDaily as more news comes out and we'll fine tune our picks.

Tony Romo DAL 7500 Dallas still has weapons and figure to be in shoot-out with Eagles
Joe Flacco BAL 5800 Should be low ownership off debacle Sunday but now gets injured Raiders
Drew Brees NOR 8000 Mariota shredded the Bucs and so will Brees
Matt Ryan ATL 7800 Ryan to Julio was the best combo in Week 1
Carson Palmer ARI 7600 Capitalize on Palmer while he is healthy
Jameis Winston TAM 5000 We know the Bucs will not pull Jameis even in an extreme blowout
Sam Bradford PHI 7500 Was not great on Monday but has a chance to redeem himself
Justin Forsett BAL 6700 Shut down by Broncos. Will more than make up for it against the Raiders
Chris Johnson ARI 4000 Chance to show he can still run behind a good offensive line
Mark Ingram NOR 6700 Surprise eight receptions in Week 1
Carlos Hyde SFO 5700 Was the best running back in Week 1
Adrian Peterson MIN 7800 Has to get more than 12 touches in Week 2
DeMarco Murray PHI 6800 Another RB with limited touches Week 1 should see more volume Week 2
Chris Ivory NYJ 5900 Build off strong Week 1 showing
Latavius Murray OAK 5300 Oakland's only chance will be to establish the run
Ameer Abdullah DET 5200 As good as advertised, especially in the first half against the Chargers
Danny Woodhead SDG 4600 Saw more action than most expected
Benny Cunningham STL 4000 Decent play if Mason and Gurley are still out
Lance Dunbar DAL 3200 We learned that Dunbar will be the pass-catching back in Dallas
Khiry Robinson NOR 2200 Very cheap option will see some touches
Antonio Brown PIT 8500 Most dependable numbers on the board
Julio Jones ATL 8100 Was an absolute beast on Monday and it does not look like he can be stopped
Jarvis Landry MIA 5700 High volume player also returning punts
Cole Beasley DAL 3800 Very cheap option for receptions with Dez out
Odell Beckham Jr. NYG 8000 Not ready to give up. Could be lightly owned due to dud on Sunday night
Keenan Allen SDG 6800 15 receptions is nothing to sneeze at
Jordan Matthews PHI 6400 Was clearly Bradford's go-to guy on Monday
Brandon Marshall NYJ 6300 Nice debut with Jets catching passes from Fitzpatrick
Terrance Williams DAL 5700 Should be heavily targeted
Larry Fitzgerald ARI 4900 Lower price option for secure receptions
John Brown ARI 4800 Caught four passes early including TD and then disappeared
Markus Wheaton PIT 4400 Gets another chance with Bryant still suspended
Davante Adams GNB 4200 More targets than the other Packers receivers. Still low price
Vincent Jackson TAM 4200 Caught two touchdown passes that did not count (although both should have)
Brandon Coleman NOR 4000 Took advantage of his targets last week and now gets the weak Bucs
Donte Moncrief IND 3800 Monster targets especially after Hilton went out
Jordan Reed WAS 4700 Best value at TE if healthy. Loss of Jackson increases his volume
Greg Olsen CAR 6200 Most disappointing from Week 1. Watch everyone forget about him in Week 2
Jason Witten DAL 6100 Increased targets with Dez on sideline
Rob Gronkowski NWE 7700 Monster in Patriots wide receiver-shy offense
Tyler Eifert CIN 6200 Lived up to the hype he received as a rookie
Martellus Bennett CHI 6100 Most reliable Bears receiver in the middle of the field
Austin Seferian-Jenkins TAM 5900 Was the Bucs only weapon in Week 1. Nearly had a third touchdown
Jordan Cameron MIA 5000 Tannehill looked his way often in Week 1
Eric Ebron DET 4000 Good opener after a disappointing rookie season
Miami Dolphins MIA 2700 Faces another mediocre offense
Baltimore Ravens BAL 2900 Oakland without Carr looks like a sack-feast
New Orleans Saints NOR 2300 Jameis will throw picks, that we know for sure
Arizona Cardinals ARI 2500 Cutler will throw picks and take sacks
Houston Texans HOU 3300 Houston was beat bad by KC, they won't let that happen again
St. Louis Rams STL 3200 Strong D/ST against a weak offense and a team that cut their kicker
Carolina Panthers CAR 2500 Houston without Foster is a different team

Week 14 was huge as 20 teams fighting for first place in the NFFC Primetime Championship crossed the 200-point threshold, including one that scored 255. Le'Veon Bell, DeMarco Murray, Odell Beckham Jr., A.J. Green and Cam Newton will do that for you. A second scored 233 with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, DeMarco Murray and Julian Edelman leading the way.

A lot can change in two weeks, but certainly all of these players are heading in the right directions towards the grand prize.
